Key Items that Should Be on Your Spring Clean-out Checklist

 Water Gardening projects of any type benefit from advanced preparation. Regardless of the type of project, having all the necessary supplies on hand before you get started always makes it go faster. Realizing it’s a good time to fertilize the water lilies after your pond has been drained, and running to the store for lily tabs tends to slow down the spring clean-out process, turning a half-day job into an all-day chore.

      Planning ahead a little means you can spend less time working on your pond,

and more time enjoying it! 

De-chlorinator – If you are on city water, you’ll need to de-chlorinate the newly filled pond before you put the fish back in.

High Pressure Sprayer – Use a pressure nozzle on your garden hose or a pressure sprayer to dislodge debris and algae from the rocks.

New Filter Mats – Filter mats should be replaced every three years or so. If you think it might be time, be prepared ahead of time by purchasing replacements prior to your pond clean-out.

Expanding Foam – Expanding foam may need a bit of a touch up in some areas. Be prepared with a can of it just in case.

Rubber Gloves and Boots – Spring clean-outs can be cold, wet, and messy. Arming yourself with boots and gloves will go a long way toward making this chore much less unpleasant.

Pump and Discharge Pipe – To drain the water out of the pond, you’ll need a pump and some discharge pipe. It’s ok to use your pond pump, but even better if you have an extra pump to lessen the wear and tear on your pond pump. About 2000 gallons per hour, depending on the size of your pond, will do the trick.

Fish Net – Before you drain your pond, you’ll need to catch and relocate your fish. A good quality net means doing this without injuring your fish during the catch.

Net to Cover Fish Container – Fish, especially large koi, jump, and they may very well jump right out of the container that you’ve set up for them. Be sure to cover it with a net that is pulled taught across the top to prevent them from jumping.

Pruners – Part of a spring clean-out is pruning back dead plant material from the previous season. Make sure you have a good pair of pruners or scissors to get the job done.

Plastic Rake – Rake the leaves right out of you pond with a children’s garden rake.

The plastic eliminates the chance of tearing the liner and the small size makes it easier to maneuver in tight spots than an adult sized rake.

Lily Tabs – Take advantage of the water-free accessibility of water lilies, lotus, and other plants that may need to be fertilized. Have a container of lily tabs on hand when you’re doing your pond clean-out.

Container for Plant Debris – Grab an old plastic plant pot or bucket so you can easily dispose of any debris that you gather from the pond bottom.

Planting Pots – A spring clean-out is a good time to thin and divide plants that have grown out of bounds or crowded a pot. Make sure you have some aquatic plant pots handy so you can re-pot and share your new plants with other water gardeners.

Extra Gravel – After the freeze and thaw of winter, you’ll inevitably find rocks and gravel that have shifted, exposing bare liner. With an extra bag or two of gravel, you can cover exposed liner in a jiffy.

Fabulous Dallas Personal Trainer

My Dallas personal trainer has literally helped me regain control of my life. Before I had signed up at Lady Trainers To Go, I had taken about a year and half off from working out. I had exercised fairly regularly in the past, but managed to fall off the wagon. Getting back on a regular workout schedule was something I just couldn’t do by myself.

 

So, I came to Lady Trainers To Go and found a wonderful Dallas personal trainer who has been working with me. She is exactly what I wanted in a trainer. She knew that I had gotten off track, but didn’t reprimand me. Instead, she showed assertiveness in a empathetic way. She’s been very supportive and patient with me.

 

I also appreciate her constant encouragement and creativity. She keeps my workout sessions full of variety, which keeps me from getting bored. My  personal trainer in Dallas also challenges me so I keep getting results. I have gotten so much stronger and I just love it. Having extra strength and energy helps me sleep better and function better throughout the day.

 

I get so much more accomplished than I used to. I don’t know why I got off track in the first place, but now that I have a Dallas personal trainer, it won’t ever happen again. I recently bought tickets from QualityPlusTickets, the Canadian company. These guys are excellent at what they do. I highly recommend them. Their site is different from all the others I've seen before; first, it's bi-lingual and second, it’s a safe place to shop - in both languages.

Great Plano Personal Trainer

I am leaving this testimonial in regards to my Plano personal trainer who is awesome. She really keeps me focused and encourages me to constantly challenge myself. I love how she supports my efforts to change and gives me all of the tools I need to achieve my goals. I could not do it without her.

It’s refreshing being able to workout privately and conveniently in my own home, with a female Plano personal trainer. Having a female trainer really does make a huge difference when you’re trying to get in shape. Who else can truly empathize with you than another woman? This is why I think a lady trainer is more effective than a male trainer. He can get you in shape, but he doesn’t quite understand how a woman’s body works.

Personally, I feel like my personal trainer in Plano is just as much a friend as she is a trainer, which makes working out so much more enjoyable for me. It’s the best thing I have done, maybe ever. Heads Up Against Alienation: A Divorced Dad Guide

There never should be a declaration of war between exes. The do not get the brunt of the lost battle; the children do. Enmity between two divorced couples starts at the break up of the marriage and ends up with the destruction of either parent in the child’s eyes.

Alienation Defined

To fully understand what alienation means, let us try do define it as experts do. Alienation is a phenomenon becomes severely loyal to the parent and seeks to delineate the other. These events usually happen in extremely volatile divorces. In intense cases the child will refuse to see, talk or to have anything to do with the alienated parent. There arises a rooted anger with no apparent reason. The child then will actively help the other parent to hurt, demean and be little the other party.

It is critical that you report any such aforementioned events to an unbiased person such as a social worker. They have professional experience and can provide intervention if they deem it necessary. 

The Inner Running of A Child’s Mind

No matter how you put it, a child is often sympathetic with the mother. If the child is allowed to see the mother shed tears then the mom will harvest pity and thereby first implant the unintentional seed of alienation.

The tendency to become alienated depends on your child’s personality. However, a kid is still a kid. There glasses are still half full. They can fully rationalize events. Particularly those that appear confusing and hurting to them. The reason for the alienation comes from within the family system itself prior to the divorce. Factors such as sibling system, the extended family’s attitude, both parents towards each other and towards the kid all have an impact on the upcoming incidents after divorce.

Recognizing The Danger

If your wife gets primary custody you have to be on the look out should your ex alienate your kid or kids against you. If you notice your child’s sudden unreasonable anger or hatred then there could be something there. Children have the tendency to reflect the animosity the alienating parent projects. If your kid refuses or makes excuses not to visit then you have to put this in a s a symptom. Sheer hatred and utter destruction is the target of a severely alienated child, other signs will immediately be noticeable. If so take action as soon as possible.

Can Someone Help?

Although alienators, and their kids do not have the fear of repercussion from a legal sense, family court can help you. The first thing you have to do is to observe the child’s behavior and pinpoint the problem attitude. Intervene as early as possible. Beware of the other party’s attorney.

Do not allow delayed tactics to be used against you. Request the courts that the alienating parent be ordered into therapy even before the settlement of the visitation or custody rights. Request that the court be stringent by making a Guardian Ad Litem check whether your ex wife complies with the court order. Lastly, if the child is severely abhorrent to you as his or her father then ask that the kid be placed in therapy also. 

As a divorced dad it is essential that you prevent alienation, and try to avoid doing so. It not only benefits the children but both the ex couple as well.
